If you compare it with Timberwol Long Cut, loose Snus is very very fine cut.
I have too portions for situations where i must speak a lot, but most i use loose because the taste is much better.
For the beginning it is hard to use, (I had a problem to form it) but there is a tool named prismaster and with that it's no problem. With a little patience, its also in a few weeks ago no problem to form it with the fingers and you don't need this tool.

jman,

it's easy to make a "selfmade" prismaster:

And You can make portions by yourself, too. Buy empty tea bags (I use the unbleached bags, for 2 liter of tea), cut them into square-like pieces, (about 1,75 inches / 4,5 cm each side), and wrap some snus into it - like You would wrap a gift in gift wrap paper.

This is clean ( snus on Your fingers), and much cheaper than bought portions. And it tastes better, imho.

ooops. It should be "no snus on Your fingers". And the size of the squares of course depends on the size of the snus portion.

> That's going to be a wierd purchase.

Indeed, it was. The saleswoman asked me "what do You want to do with the syringes?" (I bought several sizes). I said "Oh, that's hard to explain." She than began to tell me that they can be very useful to refill printer ink, and so on.

I told her "No, I want to cut the head of and use them to compress swedish mouth tabacco...." (I really did...)

Can You imagine her face? She looked as this was the most insane explanation she'd ever heard... lol.

heavy Gauloises smoker

Beitragvon Lazy Lew am 27.07.2005, 21:57

Hi, I'm new here.
Responding to this thread to ask where you buy the mentioned empty tea bags?

A little about myself as intro - I'm 48 and started smoking at 14.
Since 27 days now I'm snussing in the daytime, and smoke in the evening. An enormous accomplishment for me :-)
I'm down to 10 cigarettes a day instead of a pack of dark unfiltered Gauloises.

What is the deal with some people saying "yuck" to snus here? Is the difference with regular chewing tobacco that big? (I never tried any)

Greetings from Belgium.

Sorry, but i don't know where to buy tea bags. Why wanna buy?
You can buy portions, but loose is very better.

You cannot compare Snus with Chewing Tobacco. There is a complete different taste and with Chew you have to spit. With Snus you don't.

Good Luck with no smoking, Reduce the cigarettes to zero. I know the hell from reducing, (1 Packet Halfzware, 1 to 1 1/2 Days) but with Snus it works!

The 3rd post in this thread mentions empty (bulk, I guess) teabags for using with loose snus.
I think it's a great idea, because the loose gets all over in my mouth.

So far I've been taking portions mainly, but I ran out and only have loose left.
The portion lets you speak normally, whereas the loose is a b**ch to hide in conversation.
(BTW I tried thin cigarette paper, but that doesn't work so well)

The advantage of snus to chewing is indeed the spitting, but elsewhere in the forum I noticed people really prefer the chewing tobacco for some reason.

I'll see how the (non)-smoking goes, thanks for the encouragement ;-)

Mhmm, in German there are "Reformhäuser", I don't know how to tell this in English. A house where you can buy nature products and alternative medicine. They have empty tea bags.
It's right, loose snus is not the best choice if somebody must speak a lot, but in other way it's the best choice after a while, because it's not all over the mouth. I also had to learn, but know it stays under the lip.

I also take chewing tobacco, but only out of house. It's another taste and sometimes i like it.

I found the empty bags, thanks for the tip!
It works great with the loose snus.
I use a syringe with the end cut off (an idea  I read on this site somewhere) to portion and compress it.
